Day 211- Nutrition Bite

Money is an object when it comes to school lunches. Anne Cooper, food service director, would use nontraditional recipes and exotic vegetables and fruit if money wasn't an issue. The meal would look like the picture on the left. Visit this website to see two other school lunch profiles. http://www.newsday.com/news/local/ny-school-lunches-pg,0,5654678.photogallery

Sugar Preacher's Experience

I am lucky to have a fresh salad at Hillcrest High School cafeteria. But, they do serve iceberg lettuce which is less nutritional than the dark green lettuce. I top my salad with broccoli, green peppers, celery, sprouts, green peas, etc... to make up for the low quality of lettuce. It would be impressive if every cafeteria in the nation served the plate of food shown above.
