Day 174- Nutrition Bite

An idea to help curb your sugar cravings is imaginary 'urge surfing'. Dr. Marlatt, Ph.D., a psychology professor and director of the Addictive Behaviors Research Center suggests to "visualize your sugar craving as a wave and simply watch it rise and fall as an observer and don't be wiped out by it. Then ride the craving like a wave as if you're on a surfboard because it will eventaully build, crest, break and then subside if you don't act on it." The 'urge surfing' helps your realize cravings are temporary and allow you to detach from the craving.
